According to Indian media, an Indian Air Force fighter jet took off from a base near Jalandhar and was on a routine training flight. The Indian pilot survived the crash because the pilot had ejected himself before the plane hit the ground.
The Indian Air Force says an inquiry has been ordered into the cause of the crash.
