Islamabad: (April 30, 2020) The Supreme Court has amended Order 2118 to allow the government to set up a caretaker government and hold new elections.
According to details, a petition was heard in the Supreme Court regarding the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and establishment of caretaker setup. After concluding the arguments of the parties, the apex court amended Order 2118 to hold caretaker setup and new elections. Made a brief decision to allow.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan in his brief judgment said that in a detailed judgment he would clarify the procedure for holding elections.
